More about the LED Game

As I mentioned a few posts ago, I’m working on an LED game for the Champlain Maker Faire.  The firmware and hardware are now done; the desktop software works, but needs a little refinement. All of the LED “buttons” were printed on my 3D printers.

This is what the back of the game board looks like, after I wired it up:

 

 

This video shows how the game works at the moment.  Since all of the game logic resides in the desktop, I can modify the game rules fairly easily.  The objective is to touch the lit LED; this starts out ridiculously easy, but quickly becomes very difficult.  If you touch an LED before it lights up, the lit LED “bounces” off of you, so you have to get the timing exactly right.  You are penalized for missed touches and bounces.
